: Part II: The Where and How of Tech
10 Minute Intro Session
Alternative Pathways to Career Success: Apprenticeship 101
Apprenticeships have been lauded as a pathway to employment in industries in which the skills gap creates labor shortages. Speakers will provide a special presentation on the value of apprenticeship, demonstrated by the National Urban League, MMTC, and Wireless Infrastructure Association consortium under the U.S. Department of Labor’s ApprenticeshipUSA initiative. Representatives from the consortium will explain how their consortium’s equity partnership with the US Department of Labor connects people of color to career opportunities in the growing telecom and tech industries. Speakers will explain how apprenticeship can be a solution to bridging both the skills gap and the persistent wealth gap between minority and majority communities.
