Rep. Bobby L. Rush is the U.S. Representative for Illinois’s First Congressional District, serving in this capacity since 1993. Rush was elected Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection during the 111th Congress. He is the leading legislative champion of minority telecommunications entrepreneurship. During the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s, Congressman Rush was a member of the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee and was a co-founder of the Illinois Black Panther Party.
